About Me
My name is Mélanie. I was born at the very end of the 70’s in Orléans, in France (1 hour drive going south of Paris). I have been living in London since April 2006 and I have no plan for leaving the United Kingdom anytime soon. This country drives me crazy, but my home country drives me crazy too, so I guess I’m done looking for better places!
I am married to another migrant who is originally from New Zealand.
I am a soon-to-be stay-at-home mum (our first baby is due the week before Christmas). Before that, I was a web designer for a big-ish company in the City. There, I have worked for some of the biggest names in the financial world (banks, tv channels, newspapers, brokers and the likes), at least here in the UK. This has been an interesting adventure! But the recession and a merge with the parent company meant that my services were no longer required.
I found out that I was pregnant at about the same time, so the decision was taken that I would stay at home and be a wonderful housewife until the baby no longer requires my services 24/7! This decision was made easy with the incredible support of my wonderful husband.
For the moment, I am enjoying being at home, getting ready to welcome this little addition to our family. It allows me to do some things I didn’t have the time to do when I was working: crafting and cooking!
My favourite crafts are anything that involves a colourful thread of some sort: cross-stitching, knitting, crochet, etc etc.
I am a creative person and I need to have my brain tickled by colours, textures, shapes, etc.
This creativity expands to the kitchen too. I love cooking and coming up with new recipes as well as keeping on making the old family recipes. I have a project of a cooking blog as I like to share my recipes with anybody who is interested. I already have the name, just need to work on it.
This blog is where I want to talk about the little things of my life, a showroom for my crafts and when I can find the ‘right’ way of doing it, a portfolio for my working self.
