Updated April 2013
It’s been almost 3 years since I last updated my ‘About Me’ page, that it felt so out of date, I just had to get rid of it! So let’s start over, shall we?
My name is Mélanie. I was born in Orléans, France where I lived until my mid-late twenties. I then moved to London, United Kingdom, where I worked as a web programmer / designer. That’s also where I met my husband, Nick, and where our son Lucas was born.
In 2012, we made the life changing decision to move to Christchurch, New Zealand (my husband’s home city). And that’s where we are, right now.
Leaving my career as a web designer behind to raise our child, I rekindled my love for all things crafty. It didn’t take me long to find my knitting needles and I haven’t stopped knitting since. Not only that, but I have also been knitting samples, designing, and technical editing patterns for magazines and independent designers, and generally improving my knowledge of the knitting art. And now, I am adding teaching to my knitting arsenal, which I am terribly excited about. Nothing like sharing what you know with like-minded people!
But knitting is not my only craft. I crochet quite a lot too, and I always have a blanket or two in progress. Stepping away from ‘yarn’ crafts, I also quilt, sew and embroider. Whatever takes my fancy. And all of that in what could be considered unreasonable amount.
This blog is where I am trying to share it all.
I’m always trying my best to reply to comments and visit commenters’ blogs (and sometimes, I will also leave comments there), as I love discovering other crafty people.
