Yesterday, after wanting one for so long, the family decided it was time for an IPad. My faithful MacBook is showing signs of old age and browsing the Internet, keeping up with Twitter or simply watch a movie unplugged had become just about impossible.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the IPad is a replacement for a MacBook, there are things that will always be more easily done on a computer (some pattern work for example). But so far, I’m very much in love with my shiny new gadget.
I’ve downloaded a few apps and I can see that some of them are here to stay: HootSuite, Dropbox, Zite and Flipboard. The last 2 do just about the same, but with enough difference that I might keep them both. We’ll see!
I’m on the lookout for more useful (and not so useful – I love silly games!) apps. So shout out if you have any favourites!
Right now, I’m typing this blog post on a WordPress app and it’s rather cool.
Needless to say, there hasn’t been much knitting since yesterday afternoon, but I still managed to knit a couple of inches on my latest sock project, which I love a lot. So very smooth and soft, and the colours are lovely.
Oooo and it even takes nice pictures! Well, nice enough anyway! Love, I tell thee!

Oh yes, I’ve been really impressed with the camera, works well enough when I’ve let the batteries die on my ‘proper’ one! I do find it a bit unintuitive though, being right down one end rather than in the middle!
It’s a 5mp camera. My first ever digital camera (6 or 7 years ago) had 3mp and that was considered top notch! So yeah, the pics taken by the iPad are more than decent.
It will not replace a proper camera, but in a pinch it does the work just nicely.
And I agree about the odd setting of the camera’s buttons. Not intuitive at all. That’s it’s main downside.
