If, like me, you subscribe to Kate Spain’s newsletter, you would have received her April one, which included a sneak peek at her upcoming fabric line, Terrain.
Now, if you’ve known me for a little bit, you know that I love all of Kate’s designs. Every time I get to look at the fabric samples, I swoon and fall in love all over again. One day, I’ll have a BIG shop, so that I can store all her fabrics as they are released. So you can guess my excitement when I opened the newsletter and saw this wonderful picture:

Hot pinks, greens, but also oranges, purples and blues. Small prints, big prints, florals, lines (checks?) and spots. Really, it couldn’t be any better!
There hasn’t been a day since I’ve received this newsletter when I haven’t thought about it, already planning what I would make when this line is finally in the shop. Here’s what I have come up with:
- Pillowcases: I’m thinking white pillowcases with a few stripes of terrain.
- Cushion covers: I’m thinking BIG ones (at least 22″) to live on our sofa.
- Quilt, of couse: maybe something with a lot of white and / or some matching solids. I’m thinking like the bottled rainbow QAL, but with Terrain instead of scraps.
- Plenty of little projects, just for me: purses, pouches, laptop cozy, maybe try a bag with laminated fabrics (if it comes in laminated)?
I’m sure that by the time I can touch the fabrics, I will have plenty more ideas on how I want to use them. I’m really looking forward to this new line and I’m hoping to stock a few myself: precuts, of course, but I’ll try to get a few bolts too (it’s going to be tough to choose which ones!!).
Now, I’m going to sit in a corner and sulk and pout until I get some of this lovely line. HA!

I’m the same, totally in love with Kate Spains fabrics and this new one is no exception! :)
Ooh, lovely! The lady herself commented on one of my flikr photo’s where I’d used her Central Park fabric!!! I didn’t stop smiling for 3 days! ha ha :o)
Wow, those fabrics look absolutely delicious! I shall definitely be keeping an eye out for that line. I just popped over from the Brit Quilts group, having fun discovering new blogs!
