This year, I have decided to be organised and to make a proper list of my current wips, so that I can tick them off when they are finally done. And also so that at this time next year, I can look back and see what I have really accomplished. That sounds like a good plan (at least in my head). So here’s the list.
- Knitting:
- Pink frost Madli: This is the scarf I started a while ago and that I had to put on the back burner for some more urgent projects. It is for my mum and I’d like to finish it in time for this year’s Mother’s Day (it’s at the end of May, in France).
- Silky stairs: Another lacy scarf / stole, this one is for my sister-in-law. It was supposed to be for Christmas, but again, too many projects (that were paying the bills) so it has been put down. Plus, I’m really not enjoying knitting with 100% silk: it catches on my damaged skin, it’s very fine and extremely slippery and I feel tired and bored of it very quickly. I’m going to try and have it done by the end of March, when my sister-in-law’s birthday is. It does look lovely once knitted up.
- Squeaky pullover: this is a pullover for my husband which is seeing its second winter, unfinished. He chose the yarn and when for the most unbelievably green boucle acrylic he could find. This is not pleasant to work with. But I love him so I’ll try to have it done for next winter (ha!)
- Felted tweed sleeveless pullover: this is for me and will actually be the first project I will pick up once I’m done with my current test knitting. I’m in desperate need of something new to wear, plus I haven’t made anything for myself in a looooong time and I feel like I deserve a knitted item!
- Pink frost Madli: This is the scarf I started a while ago and that I had to put on the back burner for some more urgent projects. It is for my mum and I’d like to finish it in time for this year’s Mother’s Day (it’s at the end of May, in France).
- Crochet:
- Boy’s ripple blanket: I started this one last year, just after I made the sample for Pure Purl. I grew tired of its repetitiveness and shinier projects won me over. But it is easy to pick up here and then. It’s been my favourite project to take when going to my GP!
I’m quite a bit further along than this
- Granny sock squares: this is using my Regia sock yarn and any leftovers I have from making socks. It’s another very quick, satisfying project, at least until I have to join them all…

- Quilting:
- Lucas’ quilt: I started this one just after I got my sewing machine. The top and back are completed, it just needs some wadding and to be quilted. This should be my first finished quilt of the year, but for that I need to get some wadding.
- Castle peeps quilt: this was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my husband, but yes, you guessed it, other projects, etc etc. I have made about a dozen of finished blocks. It’s looking lovely and should make a great quilt once all put together. I also need to get some flannel for the back, because my husband wants it super super soft.
- Sampler quilt: this was the quilt along from Amy, back in Spring. It’s still unfinished! I just need to add some sashing and quilt it. It’s oh so pretty (yes, it’s pink and green again!).
- Lily and Will: This is for the shop and I have just started this one today. I want to make 2 quilts out of 1 charm pack and so far so good. I’m kinda making them as I go along. I’m hoping to share some sort of tutorial / how to. Really nothing super fancy, it’s supposed to be like a very quick last minute baby gift.
- Sewing:
- Winter shorts: I cut the pieces for a pair of wintery knee length shorts in the week between Christmas and NYE. But I got ill and didn’t find the will to sit at the sewing machine and put them together. I shall try to do that in the coming few days.
It is very likely that I have forgotten an unloved wip (or a forgotten loved one), but this is a good list. I am happy with it. I will get onto it and start tackling it as soon as I have finished my test knit. It has been dragging on for a bit now and I want it to be done. (Even though I started one of the Lily and Will quilt top this afternoon, but that was because I was stressed and frustrated with my knitting and inability to count stitches. I’m better now.)
