Dear Swap Partner

I am so excited to be part of the {Urban} HOME Goods over on Flickr. I had been admiring what everybody made in the previous rounds, so when sign-ups opened for this round, I couldn’t have been happier!

Now, I have received my partner info and I’m very inspired by everything I’ve seen – so much so that I know exactly what I am going to make. It is going to be fantastic (well, I hope so!). I’ll give some sneak peeks in the next few weeks, do not worry!

If you are stalking me here to see what I like, etc, I’m writing this post for you. I haven’t been super active on Flickr lately, so I thought I’d give you some hints here. First of all, here is my inspiration mosaic:
A few of my favourites.

Also, I thought a recap of what I’d like would be useful.
First of all, we can’t put anything on the walls: we are renting and we would risk losing our deposit if we start drilling holes to hang frames and ornaments. It’s a shame, because it looks very bland and we have very high ceilings. Also, we don’t have a table where we can all eat. Our flat is tiny and we had to choose between a dinner table or desks for our computers. We chose the desks (we are computer geeks – I used to be a web designer and my husband is a web developer).

With such a tiny space, organisation of our clutter is key. I’ve been culling quite a bit lately, but I have to say that my crafting corner is looking very messy. I am paid to knit (how cool is that?!), and all my WIPs float in the mess that is my side of the sofa. I am not happy with that, so I’d be very happy with ‘things’ to help me keep it tidy: knitting totes, fabric baskets, etc.

Now, my sewing corner is also a mess. My poor sewing machine is left without a cover most of the time, but maybe if I had a machine cover, I would cover her more often (yes, her, my machine is a she). I’ve seen some nifty ones with pockets to organise sewing stuff, that is quite cool! Also, I have yet to make myself a pincushion – I’m using scraps of batting to keep my pins and needles!

I’ve got a 13-month-old boy and I’d be more than happy with stuff made for him, as long as it is not too fragile and can be washed easily! He’s really into cars at the moment. It is very funny and cute to watch him push his toy cars around the living room while making car noises. He does the same with the vacuum cleaner which is hilarious!

Colour wise, I am naturally drawn to pink and green when I buy fabric: it is such a happy and fresh colour combination. But in reality, my favourite colour is red, all kind of red. (And when it comes to clothing, my other favourite colour is black). Lately, I’ve been thinking about red-grey, red-natural linen combination a lot. Red and white combination is also a winner.

I hope this helps! But do not worry, whatever you make will be perfect and I’ll be squealing with excitement when I’ll open my swap parcel!
