Getting ready…

… For Knit Nation! It’s finally here and I am going tomorrow! I am so excited – for plenty of reasons:

  1. This is going to be my first day away from Lucas since he was born. I love him dearly (and that’s an understatement), but God do I need some time without a baby attached to me!
  2. I am going to learn to spin yarn. This has been a long ambition of mine now. I gave it a try on my own, but hasn’t been successful so I’m hoping this 4 hours class will provide me with much needed light bulbs moments!
  3. I have never been to a craft fair / conference / whatever solely focused on knitting and I’m pretty exciting about it and about meeting billions of fellow knitters. I’ve been to a stitching fair / show about a decade ago and I loved it so I can’t wait for tomorrow!
  4. There is a Market Place where I will be able to see for real yarns that I usually don’t get to see – and don’t buy because I’m not quite sure!
  5. And finally, I will be reunited with my ripples blanket, at least just for a few moments!

Tomorrow will be a breath of fresh air for those reasons. It will also be the last time that I will be able to spend money on crafty stuff for a long time. We are trying to be better on the financial front, so that means a few months of seriously tightening the belt. I’ve got a big stash of wool (which will be improved tomorrow a little bit) and quite a bit of fabrics so I’m very fine with it!
I’m making a list of things I would like to buy tomorrow. It’s more to be sure that I get what I need for the projects I have in mind rather than shiny things that I’ve got no plans for. Here it goes:

  • Sock yarn (worth a couple of pairs of socks)
  • Silk / silk blend in laceweight (800 to 1000 metres)
  • 4 ply merino / merino blend (about 1800 metres? I don’t have a pattern, just an idea in my brain, so it’s kinda hard to guess)
  • A swift (I’m bidding on a ball winder at the moment – shame the auction will finish after Knit Nation)

This list is not exhaustive and written in marble. I will see what takes my fancy and is within my small budget! I can’t wait for tomorrow. But I still have some things to do, like printing my invoice so that they let me in, sorting out my camera so that I can take more than 1 picture, etc etc… So exciting!
