Stars and hexagons
A while ago, I started my first quilt made of lovely black and white stars in hexagons. I had to put it on the back burner for a little while as I needed to work on some more urgent stuff. But this week, as I had finished my layered quilt top, I picked it up again. I still have some urgent stuff to finish, but somehow, those little shapes were suddenly calling me again. I didn’t have a lot to do before I called it done, though!
Star and hexagons quilt top – finished!

I really like the graphic effect of the black and white. I considered coming up with hexagons bits to have straight edges on the side, but I really couldn’t be bothered. I might regret it when I’m going to attempt to bind it!!
I’m now working on the back of this quilt and I’ve decided to try my hand at paper piecing and appliqué. So I’m making little hexies to make cute little flowers for the back. My backing fabric is a bit on the light side, so those flowers will give it some consistence.

For the quilting, I’m probably going to quilt it in the ditch as the pattern and fabrics are already pretty busy. And I can’t think of anything else that would look good. I’m planning on doing the outlines of the hexagons and the outlines of the stars. We’ll see!
But I’ve taken a little break from it as I need to finish presents, which needs to be sent next week. Eeeek!

Oh wow very cool! Although if I look at it for too long it makes my eyes go a bit funny!
