Progressing
I didn’t mean to neglect my blog, but I have been so busy doing multiple things that I didn’t take the time to stop and write about it! Also, Lucas is turning 5 months today and in the last couple of weeks, he’s been interested in about everything that surrounds him. I am loving it. It’s tiring, but I’m seeing the world in the eyes of a baby and it is fascinating. So many things to explore! I’ve also taken the time, every afternoon, to take a couple of hours rest with him. I take him into our big bed, we play gently, then he goes to sleep for a little hour while I read. That and our morning routine (when I take him from his crib to our bed) are my precious moments of the day. There is something magical about watching your child sleep, snuggled against you.
But the good thing of the last couple of weeks have been the 1+ hour nap that Lucas has been having almost every day! Long morning naps mean a little bit of time to catch up on my crafts activities (and other business preparation). So, what have I been up to lately?
Well, as I said in one of my previous posts, I have started another Easy Ripple Blanket, this time in a colourway suitable for a little man. I am loving it and I am not bored of the never ending rows of double crochet stitches (american term).
Ripples #2

For this one, I have decided to add 1 more pattern repeat (so 9 ripples in total) and to do the stripes in the same order. The colours are much brighter in real life.
I have also made some more granny squares from the Regia sock yarn I got on my birthday, plus some from the skeins I already had in my stash. I’m loving those little squares, even if I am a bit unsure about some of them: they do have a lot of browns in them! I am not too fond of browns and I really wasn’t expecting that much of it in the skeins I bought. So I might discard a few of them when it’ll come to put them all together.
Squares!

They are still all attached together, as I wanted to make a few before committing to this idea. But now, I have created such a mess in my “project” bag that I NEED to cut them separate! It’s a good thing I’m loving ‘em…
I’ve also been working on a quilt top of my own design for the QAL we are having on Ravelry with the UK quilters. I am very pleased how this simple design is turning out (I’ll share the pattern once I’m done, if anybody wants to make it).
Layered quilt in progress

This Moda Boutique jelly roll is absolutely lovely. It’s a shame it only came with 3 red stripes (2 of them being the same fabric). I can see myself hunting down some yardage of some of those fabrics as they are very very lovely. I’m starting to think about how I’m going to quilt and I think I’ve nailed it down. But I’m going to keep that for later! One step at a time!
I’ve also started to work on a birthday gift for someone in my family. It’s a hat and I’m pretty pleased by it. I only have a couple of weeks to finish it before I have to send it away. I’m winging it completely, so it might still turn out rubbish, but the stitch pattern I’m using is looking good (‘Tiny scales’ from Vogue Stitchionary Knit and Purl)
Got to go now as I’ve got a pretty unhappy 5 months old ‘calling’ for me!…
