A long time with no posts! I have been so busy and tired that writing blog posts has not been on my top priority list. Lucas has been a handful too, and I feel like I haven’t had a moment to myself. Well, it’s not really a feeling. I haven’t had a moment to myself. I am typing this as my little man is sleeping on my lap. Thankfully, the weather has been rather nice lately and we’ve enjoyed little walks to the green.
But not much crafty things going on. Less than usual would be an accurate description. I did finish a ripple crochet blanket, made a bunch of granny squares… and started another ripple crochet blanket!
- Pattern: Easy Ripple Afghan (Ravelry link)
- Yarn: 5 x 1 skeins of Lorna’s Laces’ Shepherd Sock Solid (Ravelry link again)
- Mods: I did 8 repeats and 50 random stripes. I added a simple picot border, using 4 colours (2+2). Oh, and with the little remnants I had (not a lot really), I added some flowers and leaves (patterns in Vogue Stitchionary vol.4) that I sewed on a button so that they can be moved around and/or removed completely. The crochet stitches worked just fine as buttonholes!
The yarn was such a pleasure to work with! So smooth and squishy. And it softened even more once washed! It was such a lovely project to work on. It flew off the crochet hook and I was impressed by how far those 5 little skeins of sock yarn could go! I was so smitten with it all that I got 5 more skeins in a different colourway (thanks Kim!) to make the same-ish blanket for my little boy. There is something about sock yarn and a 3.5mm hook. It just works.
I’ll keep my other little projects for later: I need to take pictures and the camera’s battery is charging. In the mean time, I leave you with what I see just now.
I want to crawl!
