Bitterroot

February 16, 2010 at 4:01 pm

I have finally finished my Bitterroot shawlette. The knitting had been finished for nearly a month (see this earlier post), but it needed to be washed and blocked to be considered fully finished.

I bought some blocking wires, which helped a lot. But I think I could have blocked it even harder. I did block the border much harder than on the pattern, I think, and I like it this way. If I stop liking it, I just have to wet it and block it again anyway!

Very blurry, because I’m crap at taking pictures of myself (at least I don’t look like I’ve got 8 chins…)

This shawlette was my first proper lace knitting, with proper lace wool. I used Malabrigo lace for it and I am in love: it is so soft! And that comes from someone who refused to wear clothes with more than 20% wool because it was too itchy. But this 100% baby merino yarn is absolutely wonderful. So wonderful yhat I’ve bought some more for my next 2 lace projects!
