Baby booties

I needed to take a break from the endless 1-2-1-2 of the Big Boy’s scarf, so on Sunday, I decided to try on this pattern for baby booties on straight needles that I found on Ravelry. It looked simple enough.

And it was simple enough. I was a bit puzzled at first by the “knit whatever number of stitches and turn”, but then as I knitted it, it all made sense. And it was so fast! I made the pair in a couple of hours! I’m very pleased with the result, they look very cute. They’re a bit on the small size as I used a very fine yarn – well, much finer than the one on the pattern and couldn’t be bothered adapting the pattern / gauge. I think they will be ok for a newborn baby though. And it will go perfectly with the cardigan I knitted last month. I still haven’t received the buttons to finish it, so yeah… I won’t show it until the buttons are sewn on it!

For the ties, I just casted on 70 stitches, purled 1 row and bound off on the second row. It doesn’t make a big bow, just a neat little knot.
